KEY POINTS:
An NZPA report which stated Airways Corporation switched off air traffic control radar on August 8 was incorrect.
NZPA accepts that Airways did not switch off the radar but instead carried out a repair of its air traffic management system without interrupting its operation. Radar coverage was maintained at all times, and there was no risk to aircraft or passenger safety. NZPA regrets the error.
