Road access to the small North Island township of Coromandel has been restored after heavy rain brought down slips and closed roads overnight.
The slips closed three roads but soon after first light today access was restored to the main road from Thames up the Firth of Thames to Coromandel although other roads remained closed or partially blocked by slips or flooding.
Police reported no major problems and Coromandel residents said the slips were not major although they were enough to block the roads.
They were being cleared and one part of State Highway 25 on the western side of the peninsula was down to one lane.
Heavy rain overnight had eased and the sun was out in Coromandel today although more bad weather was forecast for tonight.
