Squabbling developers are asking for public hearings on the New Chums beach development in the Coromandel to be postponed until they can sort out their differences.
Eighty submitters were due to be heard at the council chambers in Thames today.Thames Coromandel District Council chief executive David Hammond said there was a last-minute disagreement between owners about access to the beach.
He said the developers saw no point proceeding with the hearing until the dispute was resolved.
The proposed development is a four-lot subdivision on 60ha behind the beach, which is described by some tourist writers as one of the most beautiful in the world.
