An apparent taste for corn by a group of tourists travelling through the West Coast in Jucy Rental vehicles has resulted in them being dobbed into police.
Greymouth police said a member of the public had observed the group, travelling in two separate vehicles along State highway 7 in the Grey Valley, stopping on the roadside on Thursday and jumping the fence into a paddock of maize, grown as stock food, and helping themselves.
The incident was only reported at the weekend and inquiries are continuing.
