A policeman suffered a dislocated thumb during an arrest involving gang members after the firing of shots at an Auckland property.
Witnesses say multiple shots were heard at the property in Weymouth about 11.15pm yesterday. The occupants were then "aggressive" towards police when they turned up to the commotion.
Counties Manukau Central Acting Area Commander Inspector Mark Benefield said police responded after reports of noise, thought to be gunshots.
"Police attended at an address on Mahia Rd and located a pistol along with five bullet casings.
"A 30-year-old man was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of a firearm."
