One of two policemen convicted of punching a drunk teenager they had arrested at a party last year has quit his job.
Alan Michael Douglas, 32, offered his resignation on July 15.
Douglas made headlines last year when it was revealed that he and Constable Gareth Needham had assaulted 18-year-old Josh Hart while arresting him in a West Auckland park.
Both officers were found guilty of assault by a jury in the Auckland District Court in December.
Douglas was fined $600 and Needham was convicted and discharged.
