An off-duty police officer who allegedly assaulted a male model at a Fashion Week after-party has appeared in court charged with assault.
Jan Paul de Moor, 33, faced the Auckland District Court yesterday on one charge of injuring with the intent to injure. He was bailed to reappear next month.
De Moor is a constable for Counties Manukau police and has worked as a community cop in Otara and Flatbush.
The Herald understands he has been stood down from duty, but police would not confirm this.
A spokeswoman said the status of his employment was between the officer and the police commissioner and she could not comment as it would breach confidentiality.
