A young teenage girl phoned police and remained calm as she described suspected burglars attempting to break into a Kamo home.
She remained on the phone until officers arrived in Magnolia Ave, Kamo, shortly after 2.15pm yesterday.
Police have praised her actions, which led to the arrest of three boys aged 14 to 15 in a nearby street.
Whangarei police Sergeant Daniel Cleaver said the young girl did everything right and managed to describe the events to a police communications call-taker as they unfolded.
"She has done the right thing and remained calm.
