Coming home and cooking after a night of drinking puts your home and the people in it at serious fire risk, a new study shows.
The research, commissioned by the Fire Service and conducted by psychologist Dr Ian Miller, shows a link between drunkenness and house fire deaths.
"In all our statistics, alcohol shows up as being part of it, practically about 98 per cent of the time," said Keith Fraser, assistant commander for the Bay-Waikato fire region.
