An attempt to set a record for crossing the Cook Strait in an amphibious vehicle has stalled, less than a kilometre from the finish line.
The Sealegs inflatable, piloted by Former America's Cup skipper Chris Dickson and Sealegs chief executive David McKee Wright, left Picton around 7.30am this morning.
The goal was to reach Owhiro Bay in Wellington by about 8.05am, a company spokesman told NZPA.
