Cook Strait ferry Stena Alegra will resume its normal sailing schedule early tomorrow, following cancellations due to staff illness.
Interislander General Manager Thomas Davis said the ship is scheduled to sail at 3.30am from Wellington to Picton with freight, and return from Picton to Wellington with passengers.
Staff illness forced the cancellation of two sailings yesterday and two today.
A rise in illness among crew over the past month had created a 'domino' effect on manning levels, causing staff to be juggled between ferries and sailings, Mr Davis said.
Nine crew representing all ranks and positions across the fleet had been absent due to sickness.
Mr Davis said passengers and freight booked on the cancelled sailings were transferred to alternate crossings with minimum disruption.
