Cook Strait ferries are now operating, after Monday's 7.8 magnitude earthquake that damaged infrastructure at ports in Wellington and Picton was followed up by southerly storms.
Both Strait Shipping's Bluebridge Cook Strait Ferry vessels, the Strait Feronia and Straitsman, are fully operational.
And Interislander ferries are now able to take all booked passengers from both Wellington and Picton.
Strait Shipping general manager commercial Ed Menzies said damage in both ports meant there would likely still be delays.
"It's taking longer than usual to load and disembark the ships due to damage - especially in Wellington - and the limited space for parking prior to sailing, especially for large trucks with big turning circles. But we're delighted to have both ships back in operation and to be on our regular schedule," Menzies said.
Menzies said the company was working with CentrePort to ease congestion and open up another access lane in Wellington as the company was currently operating a single lane in and out.
Menzies said the company was taking new passenger bookings as of today.
Wellington's port suffered damage to some wharves and roadways with some liquefaction and differential settlement in places.
