Contractors are still battling to restore power to around 1500 Canterbury homes after last week's wild storm.
Downed trees are still being removed and "numerous repairs" are being carried out by the Orion service.
Gale force winds cut power for around 28,000 customers.
"This wind storm is proving far more damaging than any other wind storm event we have experienced in recent memory," said Orion chief executive Rob Jamieson.
