Salvors are making the most of the fine weather in the Bay of Plenty as they continue to remove containers from the broken ship Rena.
The crane ship Smit Borneo was today working alongside the bow of the stricken vessel, which remains wedged on the Astrolabe Reef where the ship grounded in October.
"They're continuing to work removing containers from the vessel, trying to make the most of the good weather conditions," a Maritime New Zealand spokeswoman said.
The relatively clam sea allowed salvors to make good progress on Friday, removing 19 containers from Rena's bow.
An update on the number of containers removed during the weekend was expected tomorrow morning.
