Construction worker falls to death in Auckland CBD

A Hawkins Construction sub-contractor fell about 10m to his death at a central Auckland construction site today.

The accident happened at Britomart around 11am.

Hawkins Construction chief executive Chris Hunter said the sub-contractor's family had been informed.

"This is a tragic incident, and our heartfelt thoughts are very much with the family at this time."

The company was helping police and Department of Labour to investigate the circumstances behind the accident, and would also carry out an independent review of its own, Mr Hunter said.
