Constituents give Scott 'no rules' feedback

Wairarapa MP Alastair Scott is prepared to take any question on board at his three-weekly to monthly forums in different towns throughout his electorate.

On Friday he met with around 40 constituents in Carterton, before heading to the Frank Cody lounge in Masterton to meet with 13 participants.

"There's no rules," said Mr Scott to the Times-Age before the Masterton meeting.

Mr Scott wasn't turning up empty-handed, arming himself with several packets of biscuits to accompany the cups of tea.

He said he sent out about 1200 letters, inviting people to meet him to ask questions of their MP.

"We had two hours down in Carterton this morning," he said. "It's a way of getting people's feedback, whoever wants to be heard."

Former architect Neill Inkster and his wife Margaret came up from the Metlifecare retirement village to quiz Mr Scott. Mr Inkster told the Times-Age he wanted his MP to work harder at representing Wairarapa, pointing to Masterton mayor Lyn Patterson's good work.

One topic was the national flag, with most agreeing it was time to change it.
