A woman police constable suffered head injuries last night when she tried to stop a burglar fleeing the scene.
The woman was undergoing tests at Auckland City Hospital.
A spokesman said the constable had tried to stop the burglar who was fleeing in a stolen car. She was thrown aside and her head hit a metal grating.
The man had broken into a central city business about 7.30pm.
Police were searching for him and the vehicle last night.
