Conservation spending gets boost

Government spending on conservation will increase by $24.6 million over four years.

The cash will be used to maintain national parks, protect endangered species and to control pests.

The increase in next month's Budget will comprise $3.7 million in 2005-2006 and then $6.9 million a year.
