A memorial ride for Connor Morris will go ahead this weekend as planned, despite a raid at the Head Hunter's property where the event is set to finish.
Mr Morris, 26, suffered a fatal head injury during a confrontation outside a party on August 3 last year. On Monday, the anniversary of his death, Michael Thrift Murray will go on trial in the High Court at Auckland.
On Saturday Mr Morris' family, including his partner Millie Elder-Holmes, and friends will hold a memorial ride in his honour, finishing at the Head Hunter's Fight Club 88 building on Marua Rd, Ellerslie. Mr Morris' funeral was held there, and he was a member of the club.
His father Chris is set to ride Mr Morris' bike, which he has recently had customised with a picture of his son's face and the words "In Memory of Connor".
Riders will meet in Swanson cruise to "Connor's Corner", the place on Don Buck Dr in Massey where he died.
