Auckland councillor Sandra Coney has won a fight to see a legal review of the planning rulebook for the city.
Chief executive Doug McKay has instructed his legal team to make a hard copy available for viewing on a "read only and strictly confidential basis".
Until now, Mr McKay, chief planning officer Dr Roger Blakeley and senior counsel Wendy Brandon have consistently refused requests from Ms Coney to access the legal review.
Both sides have received legal advice on the "need to know" principle that gives councillors access to information needed for them to make decisions.
It is understood Mr McKay agreed to release the legal review after political pressure.
