KEY POINTS:
A 74-year-old labourer is dead after a large pre-fabricated concrete slab fell on him in Balclutha this afternoon.
Acting Sergeant Murray Hewitson, of Balclutha, said the accident happened while the man was working at Fulton Hogan's concrete division.
The victim's name had not yet been released as police were still trying to contact family members overseas.
The Department of Labour's Occupational Safety and Health unit was investigating the accident.
The man had worked for the company for about 12 years.
