Concerns are growing for a 75-year-old missing on the Kapiti Coast since Monday after a major search failed to find him.
A team of about 50 police and Land Search and Rescue (Land SAR) volunteers from Wellington, Palmerston North and Levin spent today searching for missing Waikanae man Trevor Mann. A police helicopter was also used in the search.
Mr Mann has been missing since Monday afternoon when he failed to return home after going for a walk in a local park.
Constable Ants Harmer said concerns were growing for Mr Mann's safety given tonight would be his third in the open.
"Mr Mann is not equipped to be out overnight and we are now desperate for any information which may help police locate him," Mr Harmer said.
He was described as Caucasian, 1.8m tall, of medium build with grey hair and a moustache. He was likely to be wearing shorts, a t-shirt, jacket, sneakers and a cap.
Searches will resume tomorrow.
