KEY POINTS:
Concerns for a missing Upper Hutt man with epilepsy are growing.
John Albert Gerraty, 55, was last seen in the Clouston Park area of Upper Hutt about 4pm on Thursday.
Police said Mr Gerraty, who suffers from epilepsy, might be disorientated as he had missed taking his medication since he went missing.
An Upper Hutt Police spokesman said there were still places Mr Gerraty could be but concerns for his safety were increasing.
"He's got quite a few contacts in the Hutt Valley area and it's still possible that he may well be with one of them, but that's a little bit uncertain," he said.
"Obviously as time goes on the more concern there is."
The spokesman said police were trying a list of possible contacts for Mr Gerraty, but that they had had little success.
Police were today checking local parks because he was known as "a bit of a walker".
Mr Gerraty is described as European, about 180cm tall with a thin build, and grey/brown hair that is balding on top .
He was last seen wearing a navy blue polar fleece top, a white striped polo shirt and possibly a white baseball cap.
Police said Mr Gerraty walked with a limp and was blind in one eye .
Anyone with information regarding Mr Gerraty's whereabouts was asked to contact Upper Hutt Police.
