KEY POINTS:
Concerns are held for the wellbeing of a man who wandered away from North Shore Hospital late yesterday afternoon.
Police are searching for 75-year-old Momohanga Solomon, who normally lives in Helensville.
A police spokeswoman said he had been in hospital for a pneumonia-related condition and was seen wandering off just before 4.30pm. Medical staff said he was likely to be disorientated.
Weather in the area is cold and showery.
Police want North Shore residents within a 2km radius of the hospital to search their properties and for everyone to keep an eye out for Mr Solomon who is described as Maori, of thin build, approximately 1.7m tall and with long greying hair tied in a ponytail. He was wearing blue jeans, black boots and cream/grey patterned cardigan.
Police said it was possible he has taken shelter somewhere from the foul weather.
