KEY POINTS:
Searchers are continuing to search for an intellectually disabled man missing in bush near Te Kuiti since yesterday.
Lewis Munro, 51, and Alfred Jonakait, 53, also intellectually disabled, went missing during a group outing in the area yesterday.
Concerns were for the pair raised about 5pm and Mr Jonakait was found about 9pm.
However, Waikato police district communications manager Andrew McAlley said there had been no sign of Mr Munro.
Thirty-four police and civilians were searching for him on the ground, and an air search had also been conducted.
"Every hour that he is missing, obviously the concerns are heightened," Mr McAlley said.
"But it has been good weather. Obviously it was a bit cooler overnight in the bush area, so you'd obviously have concerns in regards to his disability.
"But we certainly haven't lost hope."
Searching would continue until sunset and start again at sunrise, he said.
IHC communications manager Philippa Sellens said the pair were on an organised outing which included a picnic and bush walk.
The organisation had started an inquiry into how they had gone missing but the primary focus was on finding Mr Munro, who she was had an intellectual disability but was mobile.
He lived in an IHC home with other intellectually disabled people; home usually comprised five people plus a carer but Ms Sellens was not sure of Mr Munro's circumstances.
Mr Munro is a male Caucasian with grey hair and glasses who was wearing red tracksuit pants and a top.
