A son is worried for his father who has now been missing for six days.
Constable Mike Simmons said John Meldrum was last seen in the early hours of Sunday morning at his home in the Auckland suburb of Henderson and has not touched his bank accounts.
Mr Simmons said Mr Meldrum's son is getting more and more worried by the day.
He said Mr Meldrum is not known for being away for nights at a time and the disappearance is out of character.
Mr Simmons said Mr Meldrum had been drinking at home with a neighbour on Saturday night. Mr Meldrum's neighbour left at about 3am and Mr Meldrum has not been seen since.
Mr Meldrum's son arrived home at 10am on Sunday to find his father's car parked outside but Mr Meldrum was gone.
"He's getting more and more worried by the day," Mr Simmons said.
Mr Simmons said Mr Meldrum is 58-years-old and described as 165cm tall, of a medium build with grey hair and is balding.
Mr Simmons said anyone with information should call (09) 839 0735.
