Candlelight will be compulsory at Peter Gordon's restaurants on Saturday.
Gordon is backing the Worldwide Fund for Nature's Earth Hour, highlighting climate change. Millions of people will switch off lights and non-essential appliances from 8.30pm to 9.30pm.
Gordon's Auckland restaurants, Dine and Bellota, and his celebrated London establishment, The Providores, will join in.
Lights will also be turned off at the Sky Tower and Beehive and there will be a free concert at Auckland's Britomart from 7.30pm.
