KEY POINTS:
A man who had worked as a train driver for 43 years has been awarded $15,000 compensation and lost wages by the Employment Relations Authority after it found he was wrongly fired for serious misconduct.
Gary Rowe, 61, had his employment terminated by Toll NZ after he drove his train through a red light in 2005, the Employment Relations Authority report said.
The authority found that during the course of Toll's investigation they had failed to disclose relevant information to Mr Rowe for him to respond to.
They also said Mr Rowe was called to a disciplinary meeting without being given enough information about its agenda.
