There was some keen competition in the pre-season sports tournaments organised by the newly-formed Wairarapa College Sports Foundation over the weekend.
Teams from St Margarets College, Makoura College, Kuranui College and Wairarapa College were involved in the netball at the Colombo Rd courts in Masterton while Paraparaumu College, St Margarets College, Wainuiomata High School and Wairarapa College took part in the girls' hockey at Clareville.
The rugby boys will have their turn at Wairarapa College this Wednesday and Thursday.
The first XV section will involve the touring Downlands College team from Australia along with Paraparaumu College, Heretaunga College and Wairarapa College while the under-15 grade will match up Scots College, Wairarapa College under-15s, Wairarapa College second XV and Wainuiomata High School.
It is intended to extend the scope of these pre-season tournaments to take in boys' hockey and both girls' and boys' football next year.
