Company produces red-fleshed apple

A new red-fleshed apple has been unveiled by fruit science company HortResearch.

The fruit's red flesh is caused by a high concentration of anthocyanin, an antioxidant known to offer health benefits.

HortResearch expects to offer growers the new trees in as little as five years.
