A construction company has been fined $75,000 after a workman was killed by a 4.6-tonne concrete panel.
Christchurch District Court Judge John Strettell said Reginald Clayton Hardaker, 31, was carrying out demolition work at the Lyttelton Port Company last November for Smith Crane & Construction when a concrete wall collapsed and crushed his head.
The judge found the supervisor at fault for not ensuring the wall panels were secured.
