KEY POINTS:
A company which failed to turn up to an Employment Relations Authority meeting has been ordered to pay a former employee almost $28,000.
Raymond Wallbank was claiming outstanding wages and holiday pay from TT Management Ltd.
An investigation meeting was held on February 11, but no representative of TT was present.
Authority member Vicki Campbell, in a determination issued today, said she was satisfied TT had received notice of the meeting.
She said the company had not shown good cause for its failure to appear or be represented.
Mr Wallbank had started employment with TT on February 19 last year. He was subjected to a written employment agreement with a salary of $100,000 per annum.
Ms Campbell said she was satisfied Mr Wallbank worked for TT for 15 weeks.
"Mr Wallbanks has told me he received payments equalling $3000 but that the remainder of his salary for the period of employment remains unpaid," she said.
TT was ordered to pay Mr Wallbank, within 14 days, the sum of $27,738.46 as unpaid wages and holiday pay, and also another $70 in reimbursement of the authority's filing fee.
