Hundreds of commuters were packing out Britomart station when he was there earlier this evening, and those stuck were now wandering all over the CBD trying to find a bus.
"It's really really hard to get another bus - I had to walk halfway up bloody Albert St. They're not prepared for this eventuality."
Paterson said the Auckland Transport app appeared not have accounted for all the bus stop changes thanks to road works, and had pointed him to bus stops which had moved or didn't exist any more.
"It's quite a walk and I'd hate to be someone with some kind of mobility issue," he said.
One commuter shared that she and other passengers were left stranded at Henderson train station without any information given to them.
Earlier, Auckland Transport said there was a track fault inside Britomart tunnel, causing western and southern line services heading towards the city to terminate at Newmarket station.
Due to a track fault at Britomart no services can enter or depart from Britomart station 1/2 ^AK
