Lying to police to "help a friend" with a false alibi, Brooke Ashlee Hickey will now not be able to go out at night for the next four months.
The 24-year-old Masterton woman who previously pleaded guilty to conspiring to pervert the course of justice has been sentenced to fourmonths' community detention.
Hickey had tried to help a friend, Lorna Marie Jackson, 20, provide an alibi for 33-year-old Michael Kane McRae who is facing serious assault charges by telling police he was with her at the time of the alleged assault. McRae is facing charges of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
Jackson was sentenced to 10 months' jail in July for her part in the attempted cover up.
Defence lawyer Peter Stevens said the offending was out of character for his client and she was extremely remorseful.
In Masterton District Court on Tuesday, Judge Barbara Morris told Hickey her offending was very serious.
Judge Morris said Hickey was remorseful but hadn't thought through the consequences of providing a false statement to police.
She sentenced Hickey to four months' community detention to start on September 9 with a curfew Monday to Friday between 6pm and 5am and a 24-hour curfew from 6am on Saturdays.
