A commercial that showed a male jogger repeatedly chasing after a female stranger has been cleared after a complaint that it depicted "stalking" behaviour.
The television ad for the FitBit fitness tracker showed a man working out over a period of time in order to catch up to a female runner, also wearing a FitBit.
A complainant to the Advertising Standards Authoirty, A Row, said the man seeks the woman out and follows her, despite her running away. "This amounts to stalking."
The complaints board chairman said the advertisement was light-hearted and humorous and was unlikely to be interpreted as stalking.
The likely "consumer takeout" was that measuring your heart rate was easy and could help to increase your fitness.
