KEY POINTS:
Self-centred, lazy, debt-ridden, cellphone-addicted job-hoppers are just a few things young adults have been accused of being.
But do they really need to be taught how to do basic stuff like breathing?
Two Auckland comedians reckon under-30-year-olds, known as Generation Y, have been given a bad rap and have decided to lend them a hand.
So Mike Loder and Terry Williams have written a book setting the record straight and giving advice on - well everything.
The Guide, released today, is a step-by-step manual on life - from breathing, to going on a date to travelling on their OE.
Williams said it was not that young people lacked common sense or drive, "but back in our day there was an expectation that if you have your head down and bum up you work up the ranks and one day you'll retire as the assistant manager of State Insurance".
"Then hit the '80s, layoffs, government retrenching, redundancies, these Gen Ys looking at their parents have no expectation of that [job security]."
