Collision kills child

A child died in a collision between two vehicles at Riverhead, northwest of Auckland, last night.

Police said they were told of the crash on Old North Rd at 7.42pm.

Inspector Janet Wilson said two people in the vehicle with the child were injured. She did not know the age of the child.

The occupant of the second vehicle was not hurt.

The road was closed while the police serious crash unit worked at the scene.
