Wairarapa College continues to celebrate student success and achievement with a Cultural Assembly on Tuesday that made Elite awards to students across a wide range of fields.
Five students gained Elites for outstanding achievements in drama, music and fashion and numerous other students received Blues and Awards for contributions in other academic arenas.
Year 13 thespian Emma Preston received her Elite for her selection to attend the Shakespeare Globe Centre New Zealand's National Secondary Schools' Production from her performance in Wairarapa College's entry of Richard III where Emma played Buckingham. She also received an Award for her contribution to the school choir, Cantate.
Year 13 musician Trent Graham received an Elite for his runner-up placing in the Australasian Performing Rights Association Lyrics Award, Blues for leadership and contribution to Cantate, boys' choir Pogonologists and popular music and an award for his involvement in the major production.
Fellow songwriter and musician Dominic Ruddock, Year 13, also received an Elite for his runner-up placing in the Australasian Performing Rights Association Lyrics Award and four Blues for his involvement in the major production, leadership and contribution to Cantate, Pogonologists and popular music.
