College bragging rights will be at stake when premier one interclub netball matches continue in Wairarapa over the weekend.
Wairarapa College and St Matthew's Collegiate will meet in the 1.30pm match, at the Colombo Road courts, in Masterton, tomorrow, in what should be a closely?fought encounter.
Of the two sides, it was St Matthew's who captured the headlines last season, both for their performances on the domestic scene, where they were premier one champions, and on the national front, where they qualified for the New Zealand secondary schools finals.
This season, however, it has been a somewhat different story, with Wairarapa College taking centre stage.
They are the pacesetters in the current premier one series, winning most of their games by clear margins.
For St Matthew's to win tomorrow, they will need to nullify the influence of the Wairarapa College shooters, who have been in dominant form in past weeks.
The Harcourts v All Blacks match, at the Genesis Recreation Centre, in Masterton, tonight should be a cracker as well. Providing they are at full strength Harcourts, who are chockful of Wairarapa reps, should have the edge but All Blacks are the sort of side who will relish the chance of causing an upset Their defence, in particular, has a powerful look about it and they should certainly make their presence felt in that area. In other premier one games Greytown should account for Featherston Black Socks and Celtic Marist should be too strong for Hiona.
