Makoura College came from eight goals down at halftime to beat St Matthew's Collegiate 34-30 in their Netball Wairarapa premier-one match played at the Colombo Rd courts on Saturday.
Coach Janine Southey-Tupaea was delighted with the resolve shown by her side against a St Matthew's side that had lost only one match this season.
''We struggled a little in the first two quarters but really dug deep in the last two,'' she said.
Impressive for Makoura over the latter stages was the accurate shooting of Bailey Peterson and Sheridan Gallon-Puhara but Southey-Tupaea said teamwork was the main recipe for success.
''We needed to play well right across the court and I thought we did,'' she said, adding her team was still on target to achieve their initial objective of making the top six for the championship playoffs.
In other premier matches played on Friday night or Saturday, Harcourts comfortably won their top-of-the-table clash with Wairarapa College 66-24, Pioneer were surprisingly comfortable 69-33 winners over Fagan Hot Shots, Baywide Gladstone All Blacks came back to something like their best form with a 55-27 defeat of Kuranui College and in an absolute thriller Carterton New World Legends edged out Carterton New World Lynx 48-47.
