Kuranui College will challenge for a place in the Wellington secondary schoolgirls premier one hockey competition tomorrow night.
They will play Queen's Margaret College in Wellington after giving themselves the chance of promotion by placing second in the premier two series with five wins from seven games.
Kuranui have all 14 players from last season's squad back in action and, with the addition of talented Year 9 student Courtney Yee, they have developed an attacking brand of hockey under the astute coaching of Nigel Bird and Sharon Gates.
Unfortunately, Kuranui will be without Toyah Churton, Kim Cryer and Shannon Burgess for this fixture which will pile more pressure on senior players such as Emily Jane, Aleisha Bain and captain Laura Pitt. If Kuranui College win, Wairarapa will have a third team joining Wairarapa College and St Matthew's Collegiate in premier grade one.
