Junior students at Wairarapa College have celebrated a busy and successful academic and sporting year at the school, says teacher Suzanne Oliver.
Ms Oliver said a junior prizegiving ceremony was held at the school on Friday, when academic awards were handed out for Year 9 and 10 students along with cultural and sporting trophies.
Leading academic Year 10 student Sophie Anderson was awarded Junior Dux while fellow Year 10 student Jessica Forbes received the Mika Trophy for greatest contribution to school life in Year 9 and 10, Ms Oliver said.
Annabel Butterick was named the junior school sportswoman of the year and Kieran Andrews-Paul was presented with the sportsman of the year prize.
Junior school bands, singing groups and the orchestra made up of its junior members entertained throughout the prizegiving ceremony and led the gathering in a rendition of the national anthem.
