Collections unit chases $300 million of fines

Despite chasing overdue fines of nearly $300 million the Ministry of Justice's collections unit has effective arrangements in place, the Auditor-General's Office says.


But the office says the unit's main electronic information system, called Collect, will not support a continuing growth in fines.

An audit looking, among other things, at the unit's efficiency and effectiveness in collecting fines was tabled in Parliament yesterday.
