As the weather warms up, the Coastguard is reminding boaties to carry out safety checks after a busy day in the waters around Auckland today.
Coastguard duty officer Carolyn Caukwell said the service had its busiest day in months.
She said the Coastguard had to assist about ten different boats today, mostly for breakdowns.
Flat batteries and engine problems were the most common cause of boaties getting in trouble today.
Ms Caukwell said with pleasant weather attracting people to the water, it was important for all boaties to carry out pre-season safety checks.
