The search for a replacement for Wairarapa United football coach Phil Keinzley is under way.
Keinzley plans to advertise the position by this weekend but with the proviso the team might not even exist.
"We can't appoint a new man until the immigration issue is sorted and we know whether or not there will be enough players to form a team. Negotiations with the Immigration Department are continuing but any decision is still some time away," Keinzley said.
However, he is clear about the type of person he would prefer see take up the coaching reins.
"It would be preferable to get a player-coach," Keinzley said. "This also helps us keep costs under control. We've already had expressions of interest in the position, three from the Wellington area and one from Manawatu, even before it's officially advertised," he said.
"We've got a bit of a tricky situation on our hands so I won't name names. But all the people who have shown an interest already have jobs and obviously won't want to give them up until they know for sure what the situation here is."
