Kuranui College coach Lynda Strange will be reminding her side of what happened last time they met Harcourts when the two teams clash in a Netball Wairarapa premier one top six clash at the Colombo road courts tomorrow,
Strange will recall it was only lapses in one quarter which allowed Harcourts to score a comfortable win on that occasion.
"We were level pegging in one quarter and behind by just one and two goals in the other two, "Strange said. "So we were competitive, we just had one bad quarter and they made the most of it."
Strange will also be stressing the need for her players to be aware of Harcourts's ability to pick up unlikely intercepts.
"They have a lot of experience and they read play so well they seem to come from nowhere for their intercepts, their anticipation means you have to be constantly aware of protecting possession," she said.
Strange has been delighted with the progress made by her side this season and now they are safely in the top six she said the aim was to press hard for the top four playoffs.
Two other premier one matches will be played at the Genesis Recreation Centre in Masterton tonight.
St Matthews Collegiate are widely regarded as the major threat to Harcourts for the 2007 championship but they will be made to work hard by Celtic which has always been in good form through most of this season. The latter have considerable strength in their shooting circle and St Matthews will probably need to dominate the midcourt to stop that being a winning advantage.
Gladstone All Blacks will be desperate for a win to keep their top four hopes alive when they play Carterton Sports Arena who are, in fact, pretty much in the same boat. This should be a closely-contested affair with neither side deserving to start favourite.
