KEY POINTS:
A search for a Dunedin teenager, swept away by strong currents on the Clutha River a week ago, has been suspended and he is now presumed drowned.
The 16-year-old had not been seen since he and a friend jumped into the river on the afternoon of November 11.
Both were swept quickly downstream and only one managed to swim to the bank and escape.
Police, coastguard and local volunteers have conducted land, river and aerial searches since the boy's disappearance , but police now say he is presumed drowned.
Any decision to recommence the search would be dictated by further information, or significant meteorological or river changes.
Police asked anyone using the river to report any possible sightings.
The circumstances surrounding the boy's disappearance have been reported to the Coroner.
