A cluster of fires in the same Christchurch suburb early this morning are being investigated by police.
The fires - two in unoccupied houses, another in a garage of a vacant property and a vegetation fire - all occurred between 4.30am and 7.15am in the Avonside area of the city.
Earlier the Fire Service said it was treating the two fires in red-zoned houses as suspicious.
It was alerted at 7.13am to the first fire at an Avonside Drive property near Galbraith Ave, and then to a second fire at 7.32am at Avonside Drive property near Stanmore Drive.
Police have now said they are investigating the blazes.
They are interested in any suspicious activity or persons seen in the Avonside Drive, Keller Street and Retreat Road area this morning, as well as any information about a van seen in the area around the time of the fires, Acting Detective Senior Sergeant Stewart said.
