Featherston Swimming Club was delighted with the response to its 100Plusone centennial celebrations last weekend.
Large crowds enjoyed each of the activities with the dinner being highlighted by the cutting of the cake by patron Phil Murphy and Max Tunnicliffe, who had travelled from Brisbane. The unveiling of a special plaque was done by Ngaire Webb (nee Hemi) and Katherine Martin (nee Woodcock).
Andrew Hosnell and Adie Wyeth (nee van Woerkom) were awarded life membership of the Featherston club, Andrew for his years of administrative service including coaching, and Adie who has been coaching learn-to-swim classes twice a week for 15 years.
Dual Olympic gold medallist Danyon Loader was guest speaker at the dinner while former New Zealand representative Jon Winter was emcee. Winter is a past member of the Featherston club.
