To the Thursday Club, where it was great to see Walter Barber and George Wilkins, two of the club's promising youngsters. Even George Webby paid a visit and from all accounts is looking just as handsome as ever! Raymond Matthews won the comp with 42 points - he is obviously a very happy man now his book is selling well! Runner-up was Bill Jones with 40 points. (Well done to Bill, who in my opinion is a legend at the club - he shot his age, 78 off the stick.) Also on 40 were Guy Walmsley and Colin Wilson. On 37 were Carterton visitor Gillies Baker, Lyall Callaghan and Whitney Griffiths. Twos were scored by Colin Wilson, Bill Jones, Brent Keene and the humble writer of this article scored nearest the pin with a very clever shot!
Saturday held another shock result; Ash Reed with 47 points - good one Ash. Runners-up were Walter Barber, David Ogilvie and Lyall Callaghan, all with 42, while twos were scored by Ash Reed and Club Captain Kris, who also claimed nearest the pin. Best gross of 69 went to Lyall.
Sixty played in the Sunday Easter tournament. Marilyn MacKenzie with 41 points was the women's winner, followed by Diana Donald with 40 and Kaye McIsaac with 39. Rosie Collins also featured in the prizegiving and nearest the pin went to Karen Shaw while Liz Stone took out the Wriggly Line.
The Senior Division was won by Ian Stewart with 43 points, while Brent Keene, Joe Tuoro, Whitney Griffiths, Lyall Callaghan and Terry Fraei all scored 43. Nearest the pin went to George Kirk and young George Wilkins got the Wriggly Line.
Division 2, where the scoring was outstanding - Wayne Hunter with 48 points won from Ted Peacock with 47 and George Wilkins was third with 45.

The men's 36 Strokeplay Championship has been deferred until later in the year, which means the comp will be a Bisque Par round for both days. Round 5 of the Marquis Shield is at Featherston v Masterton.
